Start with your itinerary
Travel health advice depends on much more than the country name. The places you will visit, time of year, accommodation, activities and length of stay can all affect the recommendations.
Arrange a consultation several weeks before travel where possible. Some vaccination courses need more than one dose, and your body needs time to build protection. If you are leaving sooner, still ask for advice because useful options may remain available.
Plan your regular medicines
Check that you have enough prescribed medicine for the whole trip and a little extra in case plans change. Keep it in original labelled packaging and carry essential items in hand luggage.
Some medicines are controlled in other countries. Check the rules for your destination and any country you pass through. A copy of your prescription or a clinician's letter may be helpful.

Stay well while you are away
Food, water, heat and insects are common sources of travel illness. Follow local guidance, drink enough safe water and use appropriate sun and insect protection.
If you become unwell after returning, tell the healthcare professional where you travelled and when. Marton Road Pharmacy can help you prepare with destination-specific advice before departure.
